#7 2012 GT3 RS 4.0

Engine: 4.0L I6 ( DOHC 24-valve flat-6)

Power&Torque: 500 hp/ 339 lb-ft

0-60: 3.6 sec

Top Speed: 193 mph

Price: ~$190,000

Well one of my favorite editions of the 997 Porsche’s are the GT2 and GT3 models. They look so good and are meant for the track, although you can also use them for daily driving. I think that’s one of the things I commend Porsche on is how they make supercars that are obtainable and can also be used in most everyday situations. This car comes with components from the RSR race version of the GT3 models and is packed with a 4.0L straight six engine tucked nicely behind its bum. Only 600 copies are to be produced all fixed with an only manual transmission :).

Top 6 Japanese Tuners: #5 Re Amemiya

Aiii Nihonnnn!

Founded  by Isami Amemiya, this Japanese tuning company started around the 1970’s focusing primarily on rotary engines powered by Mazda. They have had great success in JGTC (now called Super GT) and have also been featured in various media (GT5, Hot version, Import Bible, etc.)

The reason why I love this company so much is because of the RX-7 itself and the offerings they have brought for it and its younger sister the RX-8. They suit up a car to look pretty and go fast. Growing up I loved seeing the little FD tackling the hot shot GTR’s and super cars  from Europe. Its an engine and platform with great potential if you follow the correct rules of tuning it. Oh and if you didn’t know the RE = Rotary Engine! My favorite car by Amemiya is the d1 FD3S, I love the light blue color and I saw a replica in California and fell in love instantly, so cool!

Top 6 Japanese Tuners: #6 Tommy Kaira

This is my Top Six in the Japanese Tuner line, I’m not going to focus on the in house brands such as NISMO or TRD.

Most people who know of this tuning company is from Gran Turismo or Forza, well at least that’s how I got to know of them. They had  custom production models called the ZZI and ZZII, where the latter wasn’t as famous as the ZZII. The ZZII was an affordable super car ($90,000) with a tuned RB26DETT engine mounted at the rear. As far as I know this tuning company isn’t well known in the states except by people who have played GT or JDM tuners who really know their stuff._IGP3583_800

Tommy Kaira was first named Tomita Dream Factory then changed to Tommy Kaira after its founders Yoshikazu Tomita and Kikuo Kaira. They don’t only focus on JDM vehicles, but also Euro vehicles like R8 and the Z4, their sub-brand called Rowen handles the production of the European Vehicles. The reason why I love this brand so much is because they produce a distinct and innovative product that no one else has, such as the Silver Wolf GTR (pictured Above). I’m in LOVE! So check them out, great quality products!

#8 2012 GTR Black Edition

Engine: V6 3.8L TT (VR38DETT)

Power: 545 hp/ 463 lb-ft

0-60: 2.9 sec

Top Speed: 196 mph

Already being an ultimate Japanese machine, Nissan decided to offer a special edition for markets outside Japan with this special Black Edition. The package deal moves the price tag of +$96,000 to $106,000. That extra $10,000 gets you a set of 20″ special black RAYS rims; which always look good on Nissan models, Recaro seats, and a Dry Carbon rear spoiler. All premium features for the GTR are also included in this package. I still can’t believe the GTR can reach 0-60 at the same time as the 599xx, such an incredible machine. Photos come from Motor Trend Magazine!

Toyota Supra in the near future

Well its finally been accepted and Toyoda-San has moved from thinking everything in Toyota needs to be efficient to adding some fun in the brand. Since the FRS/86 received such praise! Its fortunate that at least Nissan knew this and released their GTR to the world and people welcomed it with open wallets and arms.

Now its time for Toyota to release their secret weapon, the Toyota Supra! I really can’t wait for this machine to be rendered and finally put into production. Its not only Toyota too, other companies such as Honda and Jaguar are doing the same.

#9 Ferrari 599xx Evoluzione

Engine: 6.0L v12

Power: 740hp / 516ft*lbs torque

0-60: 2.9 sec

Top Speed: 196 mph

To think that Ferrari would end the 599xx as the ultimate track car built in the 599 platform was not enough for them. In 2012 they up-ed their game and brought out the 599xx Evoluzione! If you have ever watched dragonballz (sorry to make light of this write-up) you can imagine going from a Super Sayian to Super sayian 2; then all of a sudden you add $250,000 to get bigger splitters, 30+ horsepower and a giant wing becoming a Super Sayian 3. Okay, Okay sorry, but in all the Ferrari 599xx Evo was brought to further develop their track based car, the 599xx! If you are lucky enough to have a big piggy bank to test these cars (29 599xx, 7 599xx evo’s) or maybe buy one for your track days then be my guest. Write the check to Ferrari for $1.25M plus the extra $250,000 for the Evoluzione package, obviously you don’t only get the car, but are also put on an exclusive list to enjoy testing new technologies that Ferrari brings out in domestic and F1 markets.

As for me I would rather buy a 599 GTB and tune it to my desires in order to make it street legal and not just for the track; although it could never compare to the Ferrari house tuning of the 599xx but I’m a person who likes to be the underdog that beats the guy at the top!
